In OCD therapy, there is no judgment. I promise you're not alone in how you’re feeling. I'll create an environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your obsessions, triggers, and compulsions. We'll discuss how much distress they cause you and practice resisting compulsions when uncomfortable thoughts arise. This will help you regain control over your life. My other areas of focus include anxiety, depression, and grief.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health

I do have people in my life who have dealt with OCD and anxiety, and I've personally dealt with anxiety all of my life. Working on my own anxiety and seeing how effective exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy really is has helped me bring my personal and professional experiences into sessions and help people see that they can get better. And it gets easier the more work you put into it.

How I create a judgment-free space

I'm open and honest, share some things about myself so people feel more comfortable sharing with me, and create a space where my Members can say what they need to say without feeling judged or monitored. It's always okay to say whatever you need to say. I want my Members to know I'm not going to react in a way that makes them feel embarrassed for what they're thinking or feeling.

My approach with Members who feel hesitant

If you're hesitant, I validate that this can seem scary at first. I understand why you're afraid, given that you've been avoiding these fears or thoughts for a long time. We're not going to jump into the deep end and do the hardest thing right away. We start slow, work our way up, and make sure you feel confident and have the tools before moving into harder things.

What I want to help you see in yourself

I want my Members to see that they're strong, resilient, and capable of more than they think. The progress you make is because of the work you are putting in. I may be giving tools, but you're the one doing the work. It's not always a straight path, and bumps are going to happen—and that's okay. You deserve to be gentle and kind to yourself.

Good experience

Shea is great! She is wonderful at helping come up with ideas for exposures and helping me with new tools each session to prepare for all the obsessive thoughts that come. I always look forward to our sessions ❤️
