About

In therapy, I try to create the safest place possible, one that is judgment-free. You have been your own worst judge and jury for way too long. I create a space where you can stop feeling like you have to be perfect and serve others at the expense of your own happiness. Outside of work, I wanted to travel to all 50 states before I turned 50, and I did it. I have been doing needle arts since I was very little, and I don't believe there is a tool for sewing, yarn work, or beading that I don't own.

In OCD therapy, you will learn how to get comfortable with uncertainty—a wild concept for so many people! It is hard work that will pay off.

Get to know Edith Gardner

I have always been fascinated with this scenario: two people encounter the same situation; one person is massively stressed out, while the other is energized. People react differently because of the unique pain they've experienced. No one gets to own another person's story. If you can turn your past pain into life lessons, you have mastered the game of life. I want to help people do that.

I have personal experience with OCD. Today, I'm thriving because I learned how to heal from my own compulsions.

Stress management and anxiety have been my main focuses. I wrote a simple self-help book about ten unique features of anxiety. I think we all could use a course in how to master these ten items in our lives.

This is a very different approach from talk therapy. It is difficult work in sessions and in daily practice outside of therapy sessions. It's a very specific, protocoled approach in which we build skills. You will learn how to get comfortable with uncertainty (a wild concept for so many). At first, it may feel like you aren't doing the work correctly because it's so hard, but that hard work will pay off.

In other words, you're having a normal reaction. It won't take long to realize that nothing bad will happen if you share intrusive thoughts with me. You very likely aren't going to shock or scare me. Saying your thoughts out loud will give you relief that is almost palpable. We'll take things at your pace, but I'm pretty sure you'll want to share sooner than you think.

Working with NOCD has been wonderful from the very start. Signing up, getting my insurance verified, and scheduling my first appointment was a simple and quick process. I am really grateful that NOCD takes my insurance so that I could get the specialized OCD treatment that I have been seeking for years at a cost I can afford. My therapist, Edie (Edith G.), has been a great fit for my personality, goals, and needs. After years and years of therapy with numerous therapists, I can confidently say she is not judgmental or preachy towards me, something I have experienced a lot with other therapists. I feel as if we are truly working together as she constantly invites me to explore my thoughts, feelings, reactions, past, and present and allows me to voice my victories, defeats, and concerns. I am also deeply impressed by her compassion and cultural sensitivity and competence. Thank you so much, Edie! For the first time in my experiences with therapy, I feel like I am being treated with dignity and respect. I couldn't recommend NOCD and Edie enough!!
