About

My approach to therapy is to do what works. ERP therapy has a great, evidence-based track record, so I use it to help individuals improve functioning. Outside of work, I'm an enthusiastic hobbyist who's been crocheting and knitting for more than 20 years, and I've recently learned how to spin and weave. I plan to hike all 500 miles of the trails in Shenandoah National Park and make art at each overlook. I'm also an avid reader and writer.

Get to know Suzanna Anderson

I witnessed several friends and family members receive incorrect mental health diagnoses, which impacted their ability to get effective treatment. With a background in writing and an interest in psychology and art, I decided to pursue counseling and art therapy training. I hope to help others receive correct diagnoses and find treatment that works, reducing their symptoms and improving their quality of life.

In my work, I've seen that sometimes what looks like an anxiety disorder may actually be OCD. Traditional forms of therapy aren't enough. By specializing in OCD and ERP therapy, I can improve how I work with others struggling with OCD symptoms.

Depression, anxiety, PTSD, autism spectrum disorder, medical trauma, career counseling, substance use, bipolar disorder, attachment disorders, and borderline personality disorder.

I'll work with you to determine what you've experienced over the course of your life and how OCD symptoms are impacting you. Together, we'll create a treatment plan for ERP—we'll order the intensity of distress, then create a plan to tolerate the discomfort. Ultimately, you'll learn not to let OCD rule your life. Therapy isn't just what happens during our meetings. Practicing—and noticing what happens between therapy sessions—truly makes growth possible.

Please let me know if you're not ready to share, and what I can do to help reduce the fear. As a therapist, I don't share confidential information unless it's a threat to the safety of an individual or another person, or if there is harm or abuse. I'm required to do what I can to keep you and others safe.
